SENDER: Cosima and Gela
RECIPIENT: Everybody!
NOTES: Relevant to this bit of ooc news. A spreadsheet is coming (threat).
Hello Riftwatch, (is Gela, sunny and bright as always.) Hope you're well! We — Cosima and I, hi Cosima! — have some division head business to discuss with all of you, most of it good and only a little tiny bit bad, so bad is going first.
We have been talking about it all and we think that having two of us all the way up here, (top of the towers today, sitting importantly in Cosima’s office,) is actually a bit lonely and maybe even unhelpful! And instead of filling the places that have been left behind we have a proposition, which is the good news bit.
Right, and like … I’m confident in my own experience, but there’s a lot of parts of Riftwatch that are solidly outside my wheelhouse. I’m not qualified to run anything combat-related for one. But. We’re a leaner organization than we’ve been for a while, and I think it makes sense to widen the leadership structure. Gela and I have talked about it, and we want to implement a wider leadership council, one with more than four seats and one that isn’t so rigidly divided by area of focus.
The idea is that people will be able to weigh in more easily and whenever they want to. We want to make it a more collaborative process!
For now, I think we’ll start with volunteers who are interested in getting involved in organizational strategy. Once we have an initial group, we can decide together if we want to implement rules about adding or replacing people in the future. For now we just want to keep things moving in a way that makes sense.
Cosima will be chairing the new system. I am off back home to Nevarra for a bit — which is something that seems like bad news but is actually good news! Obviously I’ll keep in touch.
Yeah. Any immediate questions, you can direct to both of us, Gela’s not leaving right this minute. But I plan to do sort of a moderating, tie-breaking sort of thing for the time being, at least while we get on our feet. Looking forward to hearing your ideas. Let me know if you’re interested, and if we have way too many or way too few volunteers, I’ll keep you posted on next steps.
